چکیده

An experimental determination of the mean vortex velocity in superconductors mostly relies on the measurement of flux-flow resistance with magnetic field, temperature, or driving current. In the present work we introduce a method combining conventional transport measurements and a frequency-tuned flashing pinning potential to obtain reliable estimates of the vortex velocity. The proposed device is characterized using the time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau formalism, where the velocimetry method exploits the resonances in mean vortex dissipation when temporal commensuration occurs between the vortex crossings and the flashing potential. We discuss the sensitivity of the proposed technique on applied current, temperature and heat diffusion, as well as the vortex core deformations during fast motion.

Stroboscopic phenomena in superconductors with dynamic pinning landscape

Introducing artificial pinning centers is a well established strategy to trap quantum vortices and increase the maximal magnetic field and applied electric current that a superconductor can sustain without dissipation. In case of spatially periodic pinning, a clear enhancement of the superconducting critical current arises when commensurability between the vortex configurations and the pinning ...

Anisotropic Superconducting Gap and Elongated Vortices with Caroli-De Gennes-Matricon States in the New Superconductor Ta4Pd3Te16

The superconducting state is formed by the condensation of a large number of Cooper pairs. The normal state electronic properties can give significant influence on the superconducting state. For usual type-II superconductors, the vortices are cylinder like with a round cross-section. For many two dimensional superconductors, such as Cuprates, albeit the in-plane anisotropy, the vortices general...

Analysis of propeller-induced ground vortices by particle image velocimetry

Abstract The interaction between a propeller and its self-induced vortices originating on the ground is investigated in a scaled experiment. The velocity distribution in the flow field in two different planes containing the self-induced vortices is measured by particle image velocimetry (PIV). These planes are a wall-parallel plane in close proximity to the ground and a wall-normal plane just u...

جریان پمپی بی‌دررو در اتصال گرافینی نرمال- عایق- ابررسانا با ساختار قرص کاربینو

We investigate adiabatic pumping current in a graphene based normal-insulator-superconductor (NIS) junction with Corbino disk structure. The adiabatic pumping current is generated by two electrostatic potentials, oscillating periodically and out of phase, applied to the insulating and superconducting regions. Using the extended Brouwer’s formula for the adiabatic pumping current, which is based...

On Ginzburg–Landau Vortices of Superconducting Thin Films

In this paper, we discuss the vortex structure of the superconducting thin films placed in a magnetic field. We show that the global minimizer of the functional modelling the superconducting thin films has a bounded number of vortices when the applied magnetic field hex < Hc1 +K log | log ε| where Hc1 is the lower critical field of the film obtained by Ding and Du in SIAM J. Math. Anal., 2002. ...
